Attractions: History of Fort Marlborough

Attractions: Fort Marlborough Bengkulu. After approximately 140 years the British Government was in Bengkulu, they leave a lot of "legacy" historic relics. One of them is Fort Marlborough. Marlborough is a sturdy fortress heritage building built in the 1713 UK until 1719 during the leadership of Governor Joseph Collet.

The name of this castle and the name of a noble hero of England, that John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough I. The fort is considered the largest in Asia.
This heritage has a great appeal because of its rarity.
This fort was once the center of British colonial rule which controls Bengkulu province for about 140 years (1685-1825).

So that the fort was still having a form corresponding to the original design of 17th-century building. It's an attraction that is rarely found elsewhere.
Fort Marlborough region sites are located in a region with natural attractions beach, the beach Tread Padri. Thus providing a blend of natural and cultural attractions. Completeness of this area as a potential attraction to be a leading attraction for the city of Bengkulu.

The fort was built Marlborough since has held a strategic function in the field of ideological, political, economic, social, cultural, defense and security. Such a potential historical research is an interesting commodity. This potential has great value in enriching the scholarly study.

John Bastin in his book: The British in West Sumatra (1685-1825) A Selection An Introduction with Documents. Kuala Lumpur: University of Malaya Press, 1965., A lot of information about events around the Citadel

like one of John Bastin information is interesting that the Fort Marlborough had left by the British government for nearly five years, ie in 1719-1724. Of course it's interesting to know more about who controls the Fort Marlborough during 1719-1724, and what actually happened during these five years.

That information would contain a high historical value and is a valuable scientific resource. For the full potential of heritage science, Fort Marlborough has had its own market segment, namely the students.

Joseph Collet in 1712 was appointed deputy governor, he asked permission to replace the York and build a castle new castle on a rock, a small hill overlooking the sea about 2 km from the forts York.
Construction began in 1714 and completed in 1718. Yoseph Colet called the fort "Malborough" which is the Duke Of Malborough first became a national hero after he won several battles against the French and other enemies.
